ENERGETICA, together with other leading professionals has been evaluating with the authorities of the Paraguayan energy sector the possibility of selling Paraguayan energy in the Chilean market. In this context the real possibility has arisen of transferring energy coming from the Acaray power plant (not committed to in bilateral agreements) to the Northern Interconnected System (SING), that is in difficult situation due to lack of natural gas from Argentina.

With the aim of implementing this idea, the National Electricity Administration, ANDE, the Paraguayan public company nominated as its representatives in Chile a group of professionals where ENERGETICA are included. The strategy that has been designed incorporates AES –GENER, by way of their Salta power plant, as a vehicle to carry out electricity transfers to the SING.

The Project contemplates that ANDE will inject an additional 200 MW from the Acaray power plant to the SADI, by using the usual importation mechanisms and that Argentina will make possible the “virtual” movement of 200 MW from Paraguay to Chile.
